Aug 24, 2015-The earthquake-hit family of Kamali BK of Kaule-9 in the district has started living in a temporary hut at Shaktikhor, thanks to the efforts of the Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) to resettle the quake-affected families.

“We had become homeless after our house collapsed due to the earthquake,” she said. Altogether 195 quake-hit people from 24 Dalit families from Kaule have been resettled in Shaktikhor-9.

The RRN constructed the temporary huts after the District Disaster Management Committee decided to resettle the quake-hit families in the area. The huts were handed over to Chief District Officer Binod Prakash Singh and Local Development Officer Bharatmani Pandey on Saturday. RRN Programme Officer Hemraj Bimali

said built the 24 huts, eight toilets, four bathrooms and two taps with a budget of Rs 2.5 million. Bal Bahadur BK, one of the quake-hit, said they are unable to return to their quake-ravaged village. “The government should construct permanent homes for us here,” he said.

The quake-hit families also demanded that the government should provide jobs

to them. Prem Bishwokarma said that their settlement is temporary and therefore they are not sure whether or not they can settle there permanently.
