PM, Dou talk Nepal-China relations
Visiting Chinese Assistant Minister of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Dou Enyong discussed Nepal-China ties with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Tuesday.Visiting Chinese Assistant Minister of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Dou Enyong discussed Nepal-China ties, ongoing reconstruction works in the country, the constitution drafting process and relations between the two nations’political parties with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Tuesday.
During a meeting at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar, PM Koirala appreciated the role of China in the aftermath of the April 25 earthquake for its immediate support and humanitarian aid.
According to a statement issued by the PM’s private secretariat, Koirala hailed Chinese assistance in search, rescue, relief, temporary settlement and maintenance of road and other infrastructure.
The PM also appreciated the high-level representation from the Chinese side that pledged broad assistance to the country during the international conference on Nepal’s reconstruction.
Dou said China wanted to see Nepal as a prosperous country with sound economic conditions and that they are interested to assist in the country’s economic, education, agriculture and infrastructure sectors.
He told the PM that China wants to build better ties among the political parties of its neighbourhood. He also hoped that a new constitution will be promulgated in the country under the leadership of Koirala.
