In the aftermath of Monday’s riot at Tikapur in Kailali district and the ongoing protests and strikes against the proposed state delineation in different parts of the country, the international community has expressed concerns over political upheavel and violent uprisings in recent days.
A senior government official said in order to address the concerns shown by the international community, Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat and Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey will brief the diplomatic corps about Nepal’s current state of affairs as well as answer to their queries. The briefing session will take place at 3:00 pm at the Foreign Ministry.
According to the sources, the government will try to convince the international community that the constitution drafting process is very much on track and that the senior political leaders are reaching out to the disgruntled sides for dialogue.
Likewise, Mahat and Pandey will also apprise the diplomats of the security situation in the country and the measures that are being taken to contain violent incidents.
