A petition demanding removal of Nepal Army soldiers from the districts identified as riot-affected zones was filed at the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
The petition filed jointly by Advocate Roshan Kumar Jha and Advocate Yam Kumar Yonjan stated that the decision to mobilise Army in Tikapur of Kailali, Gaur of Rautahat and Malangawa of Sarlahi violated people’s fundamental rights and disrupted peace and security situation in these districts. The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, National Security Council, Home Ministry, and Legislature-Parliament Secretariat have been named defendants in the petition.
