Kantipur Daily’s journalist Gokarna Awasthi has been elected as the President of Society of Economic Journalists-Nepal (SEJON) on Monday. Awasthi is the bureau chief at Business desk of Kantipur Daily.
Awasthi secured 109 votes in an elected held on Friday. His closest rival Kuber Chalise of Republic Media bagged 78 votes.
Likewise, Pusparaj Acharya has been elected to the post of Vice President and Modnath Dhakal to the post of General Secretary. Ram Raja Shrestha has been elected as secretary and Bhim Gautam as treasurer.
Saraswati Dhakal, Anil Pariyar, Bhagwat Bhattarai, Sabin Mishra and Sujan Oli have been elected as SEJON members.
A total of 223 votes were cast in the election.
