The instruction comes at a time when Janajati and Madhesi communities are protesting across the country demanding separate autonomous states. Meanwhile, some Hindu groups are also demanding that Nepal should be reinstated as a Hindu state.
The UML has directed all its members to avoid such protests and rallies for the sake of upholding social and communal harmony. The party has also warned of disciplinary action against those who violate the instruction. The circular issued by UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel has also directed the party leaders and cadres not to speak ill of any caste, ethnic group, or religion.
The circular, according to the party leaders, was issued after series of protests erupted in Far-Western and Tarai districts against the proposed seven-state federal set-up.
Over a dozen people, including security personnel, have already lost their lives in these protests.
