Agitating parties offer a cold shoulder to PM's invitation for talks.Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha, a coalition of four Madhes-based parties in opposition of the Draft Constitution, has ruled out the possibilities of talks under current circumstances. Morcha leaders on Saturday stressed that the government and major parties should first create conducive environment for dialogue.
Morcha leaders were responding to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala’s written appeal for talks. PM Koirala earlier this week had invited Morcha for dialogue to seek political solution of the crisis in Tarai.
Upendra Yadav, Chairman of Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum Nepal, said that Morcha will soon make its view public after internal consultation. He said that Morcha has not made any demands as precondition for talks as rumored.
“Written reply will be given to PM in response of his letter. The nine-point demand is not ours, “said Yadav.
Other Morcha leaders including Mahanta Thakur, Chairman of Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party, said that the government should first lift the emergency in Tarai districts, send Nepal Army to back to barrack from the street, declare those dying in protest as martyr and release their leaders and cadres arrested in the protest to make "environment" for dialogue.
