The two-day fair at Durbar Marg-based Hotel Annapurna hosted 39 stalls of various colleges in the Valley which provided prospective undergraduate students and their guardians with information regarding courses and facilities. The colleges held counselling sessions for visitors along with their prospectus to enable them to make better judgement regarding higher education.
Programme Officer of CAMAD College Anil Prasain said an encouraging number of people visited his college’s stall. “Students seemed eager to learn about our BBA and BDevS courses, tuition fees and marketability of our degree,” he said. “Overall, we want to convey that there are quality colleges in Nepal which provide decent education.”
After visiting the fair, Pukar Sharma, who recently finished his +2 education, said that he came to the fair to learn about Bachelor in Hotel Management course which he intends to pursue. “The information I got here will help me decide which college is best for me,” he said but he complained that all colleges provided vague and almost similar information resulting in confusion. “As this is a marketing gimmick, everyone says that their college is the best.”
One of the organisers, Jeevan Lama Gole, said that the number of footfalls on the first day was highly positive and expected an increase for Saturday. He also informed that there is a management seminar attended by leading educationists at the same venue on Saturday in order to provide career counseling to students.
