Nepal's Sures Gurung wins boxing match in Hong Kong
This was the fourth professional boxing match for the 25-year-old, who played on behalf of the Hong Kong Police ClubYoung Nepali boxer Sures Gurung has won a professional boxing match held in Hong Kong.
25-year-old Gurung, who played on behalf of the Hong Kong Police Club defeated Chris Wong of China at the Night of Champions 2, on Saturday, at Hong Kong’s Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai.
This was Gurung’s fourth professional encounter. He had won 23 out of 25 from amateur and 2 out of 3 professional matches. Gurung, who is originally from Nepal, started boxing ten years ago when he was arrested for brawling in the streets of Hong Kong. The police introduced Gurung to a scheme that encouraged the young offender to join sports sessions and since then he has been training with them
In an earlier interview, Gurungrevealed that his coach (British) always shouted’ You’re a Gurkha, you can do it’ when he was on the boxing ring.
