Members of Dalit community reached PM Koirala's office residence Baluwatar to express their demands. Along with other agitating parties and groups, PM has invited Dalit community for the talks.
In the meeting with Koirala, members of Dalit community demanded inclusive and proportional representation in all state mechanism. They also demanded to fix the certain percentage of their representation at the executive and legislatures of local bodies.
The Dalit representatives have proposed to form a taskforce to prepare a document about addressing the problems of Dalit but Koirala said it is not necessary four-party meeting will settle it.
"We want to change the article 40 of draft constitution to ensure our participation," said NC Constituent Assembly (CA) member Min Bahadur Bisokarma. Dalit activists and cross-party CA members are saying that their rights secure by previous CA have been conspicuously deleted in draft constitution. Cross-party CA members are expressing their concerns in the CA members as well.
