The Embassy of India has said its attention has been drawn to a media report appeared in the India Today quoting India's Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
"Although the Madhesi problem is an internal issue of Nepal, the Indian government will protect the interests of the one crore Indians living there,” the report quoted Minister Singh as telling.
"The Honourable Home Minister of India has denied making any such statement at the event yesterday in Maharajgunj, Uttar Pradesh. The Madhesi issue, he said, was required to be addressed by the Nepalese themselves,” the Embassy of India stated in a press release on Monday.
