Addressing the 44th Annual General Assembly (AGM) of Araniko Transport Service Committee, Banepa, Minister Nidhi said that formation of such a committee would yield results as Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal's Upendra Yadav and forefront leaders of Tharuhat agitation represent the CA.
He urged the agitating parties to shun their stand and seek resolution through dialogue and not entertain extremist views.
He said that conflict arising from the monopoly and syndicate system in the transport sector needed to be resolved. The Minister further added that the government and the transport entrepreneurs have a single voice on enhancing the capability of drivers.
Committee Chairman Jit Bahadur Bharati underlined the need for ending the unhealthy competition plaguing the transportation sector. He said the increasing number of accidents in the hilly districts attribute to the fact that 75 per cent of the roads were trail road.
The Committee with an investment of more than one and half a billion rupees operates 527 vehicles including buses, microbuses and jeeps.
