Five protesters—one on Monday and four on Tuesday—had died when protests against the proposed seven model federal setup turned violent. Administration had clamped curfew in Birgunj but protests rallies were taken out from various places by defying the curfew.
Though the situation is calm today, the curfew is still in effect.
One truck carrying vegetables was torched early this morning. The truck (Na 4 Kha 4984) which was mired down along the side of the road after the driver lost its control was torched by the unidentified gang when its driver had gone to seek help to pull the truck out of the mire. Beside this, no other violent incidents have been reported in Birgunj today.
Meanwhile, around 200 trucks, which included those carrying foodstuffs and petroleum products, have been escorted by Nepal Army to Kathmandu.
