The newly formed Sanghiya Loktantrik Morcha led by Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik (MJF-L) Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar has decided to abandon the constitution drafting process if the process of new statute is not halted briefly.

A meeting of the Morcha held on Friday demanded that the deadline of Saturday (September 5) to register amendment motions on the Constitution Bill be extended by a few days.

“The Morcha will dissociate from the constitution drafting process if three major parties try to present the Bill in status-quo on Saturday,” read a statement issued by Morcha after the meeting.

The Morcha opined that the demands of Madhesis and Tharu are political and should be resolved through talks. The Morcha stressed on the need to extend the Saturday deadline as the talks between government and protestors is not likely to yield any results by Saturday.
