During a meeting held at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar on Saturday, the leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), UCPN (Maoist) and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik agreed to table the amended proposal through political consensus.
After the meeting, CPN (UML) leader Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the amended proposal would be tabled for review on the basis of consensus among political parties.
Stating that discussions were underway regarding the amended proposal that would be tabled at the Constituent Assembly from the political parties, leader Nepal expressed the belief that the next meeting of the four political parties scheduled today itself would finalize the issue.
Similarly, MJF-L Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar said that discussions were underway to take all issues of the constitution amendment in a package through consensus.
Stating that the new constitution writing process has reached the final phase after the 16-point pact, he said, "We would move ahead on the basis of consensus till the last point by addressing the ongoing agitation of Madhesis and Tharus."
Likewise, Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak said that positive discussions were taking place among the top leaders for tabling the proposal on the basis of consensus.
