In a press statement issued on Monday, the PM’s office noted that posting and sharing of photos, remarks, cartoons, pictures that would demean the values of various castes, groups, communities, religions and cultures in the wake of strikes and protests all over the nation would pose a risk to peace and security in the society.
The statement urges the civil servants to desist from liking, sharing, tweeting and retweeting contents of social media, including those of facebook, twitter, blogs, that would disturb the communal harmony.
“Government officials are requested to be vigilant while liking and sharing opinions, graphics, photos, cartoons, and posts, among other social media contents, that would hurt the sentiments of various ethnic groups, religion, culture and disrupt the social harmony,” reads the statement issued by OPMCM.
