Eastern parties agree on peaceful, dignified protests

The agreement to this effect was reached in a discussion held between the Limbuwan Joint Struggle Committee, nineteen different groups and the Kochila Tharuwan Tarai Madhes Struggle Committee. The meeting held in Birtamod was moderated by the Dialogue Group Secretariat, Jhapa.
Limbuwan Joint Struggle Committee comprises various eight factions while the Kochila Tharuwan Tarai Madhes Struggle Committee is a alliance of different groups.
As per the agreement, although the Limbuwan Joint Struggle Committee has called a general strike in the eastern region on September 10 and 11, it has agreed not to obstruct vehicles carrying the supporters of the Kochila Tharuwan Terai Madhes Struggle Committee to a mass meeting to be held in Birtamod on September 10.
Likewise, the parties have reached an understanding that both sides would be alert not to be involved in hurling abuses and accusations and counter accusations at each other, shouting slogans directed at each other.
They have agreed to resolve any dispute that might crop up in course of the movement amicably through dialogue, said Deepak Bhattarai, the coordinator of the Dialogue Group Secretariat.
Theagreement was signed by Bhakta Khewang Limbu, Dhan Bahadur Pandak Subba, Dhiren Lawati, NP Banem and Parashu Ram Magar on behalf the Limbuwan Joint Struggle Committee and Tri Narayan Rajbanshi, Surya Narayan Ganesh, Suresh Yadav, Santosh Rajbanshi and Khaken Rajbanshi on behalf the Kochila Tharuwan Terai Madhes Struggle Committee.
