A meeting of the major three parties is underway, to discuss whether to halt or move ahead with the constitution drafting process in order to hold talks with the disgruntled Madhes-based parties, at Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar. Top leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist) are present in the meeting.

A clause-wise voting on modified draft constitution bill begins on Friday unless a three-party meeting decides to stop the constitution drafting process.

The two Madhesi morchas, one including Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal, Tarai Madhes Loktantrik party, Sadbhawana Party and Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party and another led by Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar have urged the major parties to halt the process.

Earlier, on Thursday UCPN (M) had remarked that the drafting process could be halted for 1-2 days.

Likewise, Madhes-based Nepali Congress lawmakers have also urged the party to halt the process and begin dialogues with the dissenting parties.
