Most of the 15 motorcycle brands participating in the expo including TVS, Yamaha, UM and Benelli have planned to present their best models to customers ahead of the festive season.
Benelli, the oldest Italian brand, will be entering the domestic market through the auto show. KTM International Trading, that recently acquired the Benelli dealership, will be launching three premium bikes—Benelli TNT 300, 600i and 600GT. The TNT300 is priced at Rs665,000 while the 600i costs Rs1.55 million. The 600GT has a price tag of Rs1.65 million. “We are bringing one of the oldest European brands with the launch of three new models in the gradually growing market for premium bikes. I hope these bikes will be a hit among bike enthusiasts,” said Sabal Aryal, After Sales Manager at the company. The company has offered a Rs25,000 discount to customers making early bookings.
Likewise, MAW Enterprises, the authorised distributor of Yamaha in Nepal, is all set to launch its commuter segment bike the Saluto at the event. The 125 cc machine will be available in two options, disk brake and drum brake, priced at Rs178,900 and Rs174,900 respectively.
Nirmal Shrestha, head of marketing at the company, said, “The mass segment has been doing well in the domestic market so we hope this bike, built on a completely new platform, will also help to increase Yamaha’s market share in the country.”
Similarly, TVS will be rolling out three new models—the Phoenix and Star City Plus motorcycles and the Scooty Zest scooter. The company is hosting a pre-launch event on Monday in Kathmandu. The Phoenix motorcycle is fitted with a 125 cc engine and will be priced between Rs170,000 and Rs175,000. The 110 cc Star City Plus will cost around Rs160,000 in the domestic market. Likewise, the Zest is powered by a 110 cc single-cylinder 4-stroke CVTi air cooled engine, according to the company. IME Automotives, the authorised distributor of UM in Nepal will be rolling out the Nitrox 125 motorcycle and the Powermax scooter during the show. Both the two-wheelers are powered by a 125 cc engine.
The company has not disclosed the price of the machines. “We are going to launch the scooter and motorcycle at very competitive prices compared to the products of other companies in the same segment,” said Bikram Singh, head of sales and marketing at the company. “With the scooter segment growing at the rate of 25-30 percent annually, we have high expectations from the Powermax which is among the scooters with the highest engine displacement and power.”
