A meeting between leaders of Tharu groups including Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar, and top leaders of three major parties ended on a positive note on Thursday.

According to MJF-Loktantrik General Secretary Ram Janam Chaudhary, the leaders of three major parties seemed positive on a seven-point precondition for talks presented by them.

The meeting attended by 11 leaders from the disgruntled parties, however, did not make any remarkable decision. The meeting held at Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, Kathmandu has been put off for Friday.

The preconditions of Tharu leaders include recalling the Army back from Tarai districts, grant Martyr’s status to people killed during Tarai protests, provide free treatment to those injured, release the arrested leaders and cadres, drop the charges against those arrested, and reconsider the boundaries of federal states, among others.
