Kin of victims to get Rs 1m redress

A Cabinet meeting on Friday decided to provide Rs 1 million each to the dependent family of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force security personnel, who died in the line of duty in the violent attack at Tikapur of Kailali district on August 24 as well as to the next of kin of those killed during the protests in various places, Minister for Information and Communications Minendra Rijal said.
The government has also taken the responsibility of bearing medical expenses of the people injured in course of the Tarai-Madhes movement. The Cabinet also announced September 20 and 21 as public holidays on the occasion of the promulgation of the new constitution.
Likewise, the government has decided to investigate the people arrested in connection to the violence in Tarai protests and release those who are found guilty.
