Superintendent of Police Sudhir Raj Shahi said they were arrested for protesting at prohibited areas.
In Morang, police arrested five suspects behind Thursday night’s vehicle vandalism incidents.
The suspects, all supporters of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha, were held for their alleged involvement behind vandalism of three trucks, one ambulance and a motorcycle, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Pramod Kharel.
The Morcha cadres continued their demonstration against the proposed federal delineation in Biratnagar on Friday as well. People from the Khas community and other marginalised groups also joined the Morcha-led demonstration.
In Sunsari, people from the Kirat community took out motorcycle rally in Dharan demanding a separate Kirat State.
Meanwhile, the local administration has decreased the curfew period to 14 hours from 24 hours, Chief District Officer Rabilal Pantha said.
In Kailali, curfew and prohibitory orders at town areas have led the agitating Tharuhat/Tharuwan Struggle Committee to take their protest in village areas. They staged protest assemblies at Masuriya, Hasuliya, Phulbari, Pahalmanpur including other villages in the district.
The spokesperson of the committee, Madhav Chaudhary, said they have prepared a Tharu Youth Force to manage and control the protest activities.
