While "noting that the constitution is a living document, UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon has urged the political leaders to act in the broad national interest with continued flexibility and inclusivity," his spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told reporters in New York.
UN’s official news site has quoted Dujarric saying that the secretary general remains concerned about the recent violence and stresses the importance of dialogue and non-violence as well as respect for peaceful protest and freedom of assembly. “A peaceful and democratic Nepal is what the people of Nepal seek and deserve,” Dujarric said.
