Indian customs officials have been obstructing the goods carrier vehicles, LPG bullets and oil tankers at Nepal-India border citing security reasons in Nepal’s Tarai region and orders from above.
The movement of freight trucks has been obstructed at key entry points in Biratnagar, Kakadbhitta, Birgunj, Bhairahawa and Nepalgunj.
Sunauli border in Rupandehi has not seen any vehicular movements except two empty freight-trucks since Friday morning.
Apparently upset over the promulgation of new constitution, Indian side started holding up Nepal bound freights at the border since Wednesday. The India has been expressing serious concerns over increased violence in Tarai region and has been urging the government to resolve the crisis through dialogue.
