NHRC to follow up on 12 rights violation cases

The national rights body will track developments in incidents of gross rights violation during insurgency, which includes incidents of Doramba in Ramechhap, Godar in Dhanusa, Bandarmudhe in Chitwan and Pili in Kalikot, among others.
The commission will also look into cases of caste-based discrimination in Siraha and Doti and violence against women accused of witchcraft in Mahottari. “We want to study whether the recommendations made by the commission were implemented by the government,” said Mohna Ansari, spokesperson of the commission. “We want to know if the victims’ families got justice by now.”
The commission has recommended action in 715 cases of grave rights violation. So far, 105 recommendations have been implemented, all of them related to compensation.
