Before formally launching the nationwide campaign, including in the riot-hit Tarai districts, the party has a called for a national cadres’ gathering in Kathmandu on September 29. The gathering attended by the UML office bearers, central committee members, lawmakers, former lawmakers and district heads will finalise the party’s future strategy.
“Our party’s rank and file will be mobilised after the gathering, though they can start the campaign immediately according to their convenience,” said UML spokesperson Yogesh Bhattarai.
Party leaders are told to organise mass meetings across the country, assess security status, hold interactions over positive aspects of the constitution, and discuss ways to incorporate the missing points in the constitution. The UML has also asked the agitating parties to return to negotiating tables to find solution for the ongoing crisis which has severely affected the normal life in various Tarai districts for over a month.
“We sovereign people should resolve our problem internally. So the agitating parties are asked to sit in talks for seeking solution through peaceful dialogue,” said UML Vice-chairperson Yubaraj Gyawali.
