The Bagmati Clean-Up Campaign has today collected 22 metric tonnes of garbage from Bagmati river at Balkhu and its surrounding areas. The campaign, launched from May 18, 2013, reached 124th week today. 

On the occasion, Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi said that no one should make river dirty as it is the right of people to live in a healthy environment. Similarly, former Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudyal said that the Bagmati river is becoming cleaner with support of all sides. 

Representative of the High Powered Committee for Integrated Development of Bagmati Civilization (HPCIDBC), Mala Kharel, representative of Research Development Centre Nepal, Narayan Gyawali, and a local social worker Mohan Basnet, said that now the clean-up campaign should be taken ahead with new momentum and Kathmandu valley folks should be serious for the cleanliness and conservation of the Bagmati river. 

Different people including employees at government offices and other organisations, security personnel, locals and campaigners were present on the occasion.
