Students donning their college uniform took out a rally from Surkhet Road to BP Chowk chanting slogans like “Let’s resolve our problems ourselves, let’s denounce Indian interference”.
Their banners read “Back off India”, a theme that went viral on Twitter recently.
Student leader Tulsimani KC said the protest was spontaneous.
“We also have some disagreements with the new constitution but we won’t accept Indian interference at any cost,” said KC. During the rally, the students chanted slogans urging unity among all Nepalis.
The rally went round the town, converging into a corner meet at BP Chowk. Addressing the crowd, Chairman of the All Nepal National Free Students’ Union Mohit Sah appealed to students across the country to unite against the Indian interference. Sah said India had tried to undermine Nepal’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
