The CC meeting also concluded that Bhattarai’s decision was sudden and surprising.
He left the party when the country is seeking unity among the party for the effective implementation of the new constitution, said Agni Sapkota after the meeting.
He added that Bhattarai quitting the party at a time when all the political parties should be joining hands to safeguard the sovereignty and integrity of the nation has raised eyebrows and prompted various suspicions.
“It’s the view of the party that Bhattarai’s decision was not right and that he should rethink his decision,” Sapkota said.
UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal told the meeting that consultations were underway inside the party on addressing Bhattarai’s concerns.
“Bhattarai’s sudden decision to quit came as a surprise. We need to hold serious consultations before reaching any conclusion on the matter,” Sapkota quoted Dahal as saying in the meeting.
Dahal also told the meeting that he and Bhattarai had no differences regarding constitution promulgation.
Bhattarai has already said that he would not be rejoining the party.
Call for dialogue
The Maoist CC meeting also urged the government and the disgruntled parties to sit for talks without further delay.
The party is of the view that some legitimate and genuine concerns of Madhesi and Tharu communities should be addressed by amending the constitution. The main opposition also condemned the “undeclared blockade” imposed by India which has hit the supply of daily essentials in Nepal, terming it “an unnecessary interference” in Nepal’s internal affairs.
Sapkota said the Indian establishment should not hold a grudge towards Nepal because the new constitution which was written and issued by the Constituent Assembly. The meeting also decided to ask government to make alternative arrangements to bring the essential goods if the blockade continues.
