PM to urge Prez Yadav to summon House meeting

Pm Koirala will serve as a lame duck prime in accordance with the constitution of Nepal after president initiates the process.
Koirala informed the Cabinet meeting on Friday about his decision to request the president. “Prime minister will meet the president today to request him to begin the process of forming a new government,” said Minister of General Administration Lalbabu Pandit.
President Yadav, according to the constitutional provision, would call upon the parties in parliament to form a consensus government within 7 days. The provisions state that the government can be formed within seven days after all the parties reach an consensus. A single party’s disagreement can halt the process to form a consensus government. However, if the parties fail to reach consensus the new prime minister will be elected through majority process.
