Strict enforcement of traffic laws draws Rs 103.2 million in revenue

The traffic office in the last fiscal year took action against 4,802 license holders charged with serious violation of traffic laws. The East Regional Traffic Office Chief Nar Bahadur Chhetri said that police have perforated licenses of those involved in serious infringement of law.
The traffic police in the eastern region also filed murder cases on 376 drivers within a span of a year in view of the seriousness of the accidents in various districts. Action was taken against 37 drivers in the same period on basis of their mistakes, Chhetri said.
The Regional Traffic Office drew revenue of Rs 103.2 million within the fiscal year on basis of actions taken against traffic law violators in various districts. In the previous fiscal year, the traffic police had collected Rs 78.7 million in revenue.
