During a meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar today, the top leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist) shared their statements for giving continuity to consensus, coordination and unity of the three parties that was seen during the time of constitution promulgation.
After the meeting, UML Vice-Chairperson Bidhyadevi Bhandari said that the leaders discussed the issues of formation of unity government, dialogue with the agitating Madhesi-centric parties, unrest in Terai districts and India's undeclared blockade on Nepal.
She added that high-level talks were going on with the Indian government regarding the transit rights of the landlocked countries and added that diplomatic and political talks were also being held to end the blockade.
Nepali Congress central committee member and Minister for Forests and Soil Conservation Mahesh Acharya, who is also a member of the three-party talks team, said that the top leaders meeting reviewed the achievements made during the dialogue with the agitating Madhesi Front. He also shared that discussions were also held to resolve the disputed issues as early as possible by giving continuity to the ongoing talks with the agitating sides.
The top leaders touched the issue of constitution amendment and moving ahead by making active to the federal commission, Minister Acharya said.
Likewise, the leaders also exchanged their views on the joint meeting of all parties representing in the Legislature-Parliament scheduled for today afternoon.
According to UCPN (Maoist) Vice-Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha, the Prime Minister Sushil Koirala told the leaders that he has no personal interests as publicised in the media.
Saying that three major political parties were serious on the blockade imposed by India, Shrestha argued that the three parties should talk to the high-level Indian leadership.
"The undeclared blockade from India is still in effect. This is unfortunate and condemnable," the UCPN (Maoist) leader said.
Prime Minister Koirala, CPN -UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and the second rung leaders of the three parties were also present in the meeting.
