Veteran communist leader Baburam Bhattarai, who recently severed his ties with UCPN (Maoist), has been travelling across the country as part of his campaign to form a new ‘political force’.

Speaking at an interaction organised by Reporters Club here in Lamahi of Dang on Tuesday, leader Bhattarai said that he is planning to induct leaders scattered among various political parties and independent people to his new party.

He said a political campaign to promulgate a new constitution from Constituent Assembly has been completed and stressed that new era has begun to realise the vision of ‘New Nepal’ through economic development.

Leader Bhattarai broke his two-decade long political association with Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led UCPN (Maoist) and has been supporting the cause of Madhesi and Tharu community.

Speaking in Dang today, he said the Tharuhat/Tharuwan protest was valid. He expressed concerns on addressing the agitating communities demand through constitution amendment.

Furthermore, leader Bhattarai said that his resignation from party and parliamentary leader had no connection with India’s ‘unofficial’ blockade to Nepal. He went on to say that the blockade was against the international treaty for transit.

Responding to Kailali Chief District Officer’s request to cancel his Kailali trip that has been scheduled for Wednesday, leader Bhattarai said that he would meet Kailali folks at any cost and no one will be able to stop his visit.
