A Cabinet meeting on Wednesday took the decision to this effect in a bid address the demands of agitating Madhesi groups. Law Minister Narahari Acharya informed about the registration of the proposal.
The proposal seeks to amend Article 42, Article 84, and Article 286 of the new constitution.
It has been learnt that the proposal seeks to amend the provision of inclusive in all government machineries mentioned in Article 42 with proportional inclusive system, and the provision of geography and population for electing people’s representatives mentioned in Article 84 with the new provision of prioritising population.
Likewise, the provision of constituency delineation mentioned in Article 286 will take into account the new provision of Article 84 so as to ensure at least one constituency in a district.
