A meeting of Home Ministry, Commerce and Supply Ministry, Nepal Oil Corporation and security bodies decided not to refuel the private vehicles. “Bearing the stock of petroleum products, the government has decided not to refuel private vehicles until the fuel supply returns to normalcy,” said NOC spokersperson Dipak Baral.
Baral said that this decision was taken considering the upcoming Dashain festival and the need to ensure the mobility of public vehicles.
As per the decision, private vehicles, tippers, trucks, mini-trucks and construction vehicles will not be refuelled.
Baral also informed that a controlled fuel supply system will be adopted on public vehicles. As per this decision, a microbus will receive 15 litre of fuel while a mini bus will be provided with 20 litre. Likewise, a bus will receive 30 litre of fuel. Fuel will be provided on alternative days based on odd or even number plate.
Emergency vehicles such as fire brigades, ambulances will be provided 10 liters of fuel while taxis will be receive 10 litre of fuel per week. Fuel will be distributed to cabbies only on Sundays and Mondays.
