NOC has awarded the tender to airlift aviation fuel to NAC. The fuel will be airlifted from Kolkata on NAC’s Boeing 757 aircraft. The airlifted fuel will be stored at the airport depot and sold to internal airlines companies, said depot chief Pradip Yadav. Yadav informed that the aircraft will conduct one cargo flight to airlift the fuel on Wednesday while two flights will be conducted from Thursday.
The aircraft will carry 24,000 litres of fuel on one flight. NOC will pay 2.56 million rupees to the NAC for one cargo flight while Rs 58,240 will be paid in Kolkata for every 1,000 litres of fuel. If all the costs, including cargo, fuel price, defueling and other administrative costs, are added, the fuel will cost Rs 185 per litre at the airport depot. Since, the depot is selling fuel at around Rs 137 per litre, NOC will bear a loss of around Rs 50-55 per litre on the airlifted aviation fuel, said Yadav.
Yadav informed that NOC will sell the fuel at loss for time being. “Any other decisions regarding the price of the fuel will be taken only after 10-12 days,” said Yadav.
