The international community has welcomed the new government under Prime Minister KP Oli.The international community has welcomed the new government under Prime Minister KP Oli. Jamie McGoldrick, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, on behalf of the international community in Nepal, on Tuesday said in a statement: “The international community in Nepal welcomes the appointment of a new government and hope it will engage in dialogue to ensure the broadest ownership and inclusive implementation of the constitution.”
Mark C Toner, deputy department spokesperson at the US Department of State, also issued a statement, congratulating PM Oli on his election. “We look forward to working with the Prime Minister on ongoing efforts to rebuild after the earthquake and to bring about a more prosperous, unified, and stable Nepal,”he said.
Hugo Swire, UK minister of state for Asia, said in a statement: “On behalf of the British Government, I send my congratulations to Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli on his election as Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. The United Kingdom and Nepal share 200 years of friendship and we will remain a steadfast partner for Nepal as it continues to rebuild following the devastating earthquake on 25 April.”
Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif also congratulated PM Oli while lauding his contribution in the constitution writing process.
