SLMM leaders not to participate in Prez election

The Morcha that participated in the Prime Ministerial election on October 11 announced its non-participation in the election for the post of president, saying it was criticised from Madhesi community for attending the Prime Ministerial election.
“There is no meaning of participating in everyday politics unless our demands are met,” TMLP Chairman Mahanta Thakur told the Post on Monday.
The SLMM has a total of 35 seats in the Legislature-Parliament. The Morcha leaders had supported Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala in the PM's election. However, they boycotted the election for the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
"We have already committed a mistake once by participating in the PM election that was convened under the constitution that we are opposing,” said Sadbhawana General Secretary Manish Kumar Suman, adding, “Such mistakes will not be repeated again.”
