UCPN (M) unveils code of conduct for its ministers

The ruling UCPN (Maoist) issued a code of conduct to its ministers requesting to them to make immediate and long-term work plan of their respective ministries.
Organising a press conference in the Capital on Tuesday , Vice-Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who is also entrusted for the coordination between ministries and party, unveiled the code of conduct.
The code of conduct states that ministers will have to appear on time to provide services to the people and they should not perform their works from outside their respective ministries. "The ministers will have to effectively implement the code of conduct as directed by party," said Shrestha.
According to code of conduct, ministers should perform the tasks related to promotion, transfer, training and foreign junkets in an institutional and impartial manner.
Similarly, ministers will not be allowed to appoint personal secretary from their relatives. Submission of property details within 10 days, avoiding foreign junkets, avoiding bias and party interest among others are other vital points of code of conduct.
Similarly, the party has entrusted to follow diplomatic code of conduct, not using government vehicles for personal benefit, adopting transparency and maintaining accountability are other issues that should be followed by the UCPN (M) ministers. The party has also directed to unveil the progress report on monthly basis.
Similarly, party has directed to address the issues of workers, poor, Dalit and plights of the members of the people who were killed or disappeared during the Maoist insurgency. "We have also directed to play effective role to create an atmosphere for the effective implementation of new constitution ensuring its broader ownership," said Shrestha.
