Nepal and Switzerland have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on establishing a bilateral consultation mechanism at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu on Wednesday. 

Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, and Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Urs Herren signed the MoU. The MoU provides for a mechanism for bilateral consultation on political, diplomatic, development cooperation and other areas of mutual interest between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries at the level of Foreign Secretary/State Secretary. 

Similarly, consultation meetings would take place alternately every second year in Kathmandu and in Bern. 

On the occasion of the signing of the MoU, Foreign Secretary Bairagi and the Swiss Ambassador exchanged views on ways of further enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries, and other matters of common concern. RSS
