Have found indications of ending blockade soon: PM tells govt secys
Nov 8, 2015-
Prime Minister KP Oli has remarked that there are indications that the current blockade at Nepal-India border will end soon.
In a meeting with government secretaries at his official residence in Baluwatar on Sunday evening, PM said he has found positive indications from sources that the ongoing blockade at the border will be lifted.
PM Oli reiterated that the blockade should be removed at the earliest as it has not only affected Nepal but also India.
He directed the secretaries to expedite government services without any hassle. “It is up to India whether to continue the blockade or end it,” he told secretaries, “You continue to render services through optimum use of available resources.”
PM Oli, who has been openly lashing out at India’s blockade, denied any remarks on the issue today. On Saturday, he had made it clear that all the trade points with China would be brought into operation if India did not remove its border blockade.
Meanwhile, Indian Ambassador Ranjit Rae, during his visit to Nepali Congress acting President Ram Chandra Poudel today, also hinted at resuming the Nepal-bound goods without any obstruction in the next few days.
