FIFA ethics committee bans ANFA President Ganesh Thapa for 10 years

The committee has slapped a fine of 20,000 Swiss francs (Rs 20.97 million).
According a statement issued by FIFA on its website, the decision was made based on investigations carried out by the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee under the chairmanship of Dr Cornel Borbély.
“Thapa has been found guilty, in the context of the 2009 and 2011 elections for the FIFA, of committing various acts of misconduct ...including the solicitation and acceptance of cash payments from another football official, for both personal and family gain,” read the statement.
“Mr Thapa has therefore been banned for ten years from all football-related activities and fined,” said the statement.
Likewise, Viphet Sihachakr, President of the Lao Football Federation, has been banned for two years for his alleged involvement in taking cash in the context of the 2011 FIFA elections.
