Fuel smuggled in ambulance

Reports have come into light about ambulances smuggling fuel along the east-west highway. An ambulance (Ja 1 Cha 790) carrying smuggled fuel in a huge quantity was confiscated at Saptari on Tuesday.
The ambulance operated by Sarlahi Workers Association was carrying 500 litres of diesel that was purchased on the way back from Jhapa, it is learnt. It was stopped at Kanchanpur of Saptari by the cadres of Madhesi Morcha.
Ambulance driver said he was lured into smuggling after seeing heavy profit in the transaction. According to the driver, the cost per litre of diesel is Rs 90 that he could sell for upto Rs 150 in Sarlahi.
The driver has been released on the promise that he would not continue doing such act in future.
