NC spokesperson Dilendra Badu informed that an unofficial meeting of party officials held on Wednesday decided to table the bill to finalise the number of constituencies based on population and representation based on proportional inclusive principles.
Leader Badu further said that the meeting concluded on the remark that the government was not serious in amending the constitution. “The government is trying to bring a package deal on fuel crisis, constitution amendments, state delineation among other issues which is not possible,” he said, “We have urged the government to first pass these two bills and continue discussion on the remaining issues. However, the government is unwilling to do so.”
The NC has urged the government to hold discussions on the issue of state delineation through political dialogue or parliamentary committee, said Badu.
Likewise, leader Badu said that NC will put forth its stand on state delineation the day it is discussed adding that the party has not said about unifying or dividing any district regarding demarcation.
