Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato has accused the government of trying to promote communal discrimination through police suppression of ongoing 'peaceful protest' in the Tarai.Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato has accused the government of trying to promote communal discrimination through police suppression of ongoing 'peaceful protest' in the Tarai.
Speaking at a press conference in Rajbiraj, Saptari on Thursday, Mahato accused the government of staging a drama in the name of talks and of publicising wrong information against India at the international level.
He also blamed the government for trying to disrupt communal integrity in Madhes and across the country just to retain in power and for weakening the protest in the Tarai, saying that the blockade was imposed by India, instead of Madhesi people.
Mahato also accused the government of trying to plunge the country into a civil war by using force during the agitations.
Condemning killings of some agitators in police firing in Saptari on Saturday and Sunday, Mahat demanded that a high-level probe committee should be formed and the perpetrators should be brought to justice.
He also condemned the incidents, wherein police are reported to have entered Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital and beaten up health workers there and demanded the guilty be booked.
The SP leader urged people in the hills to uphold their ongoing protest for their rights, saying that the agitations was not ones between Madhesi and Pahadi people, but for rights of Madhesi people.
