Minister Rawal said government is committed to protecting the territory and citizens.
Hinting at Tarai demonstrations, which have turned violent of late, Rawal said the government “so far has maintained restraint and has not used force”.
“The government can take any decision regarding mobilisation of security agencies,” said Rawal.
Rawal’s remarks come at a time when reports are rife that the government is considering mobilising the army in the Tarai region where protests have been going on for more than 100 days now.
On the blockade imposed by India, Rawal said ‘diplomatic talks are underway to resolve the issue’. “We want to improve ties with India. People-to-people relations have been strained following the blockade,” said Rawal.
He also called on the agitating parties to change their form of protests.
