The Nepal Cricket School runs in the form of indoor cricket that has five wickets and a spacious area for training. Spread into four ropanis and eight aanas of land, the Arena also has a futsal ground. Outgoing national cricket team coach Pubudu Dassanayake, skipper Paras Khadka and Sri Lankan Ambassador to Nepal WM Senevirathne jointly inaugurated the Cricket School.
Dassanayake has headed back home on Saturday after completing his four-year tenure. NSM said the international standard turf in the School is par to the one used in the ICC Global Cricket Academy in the United Arab Emirates. Dassanayake said the School could play a major role in the uplifting of Nepali cricket.
Skipper Khadka appreciated the effort from NSM calling it one of the largest cricket academies in Nepal. “We (national players) can also get benefitted by the facility,” added Khadka. NSM also honoured Dassanayake for his contribution to Nepali cricket. Senevirathne lauded the contribution from two Sri Lankan coaches of Nepal – Roy Dias and Dassanayake – and said Sri Lanka will try to help Nepali cricket further.
NSM is established by a group of sports enthusiast with former national level cricketer Karan Ghimire being the chairman of the board. Former Nepali skipper Binod Das and bowler Kalam Ali will provide coaching to the students in the Cricket School. The school also has the facility of night lights, bowling machine and bowling speed gun, informed Akur Rimal, one of the stake holders of the company.
