FNJ compensates journos affected by Madhes agitation
Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has provided financial assistance to those journalists who were either injured or lost their equipments during the Madhes agitations.The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) on Tuesday provided financial support to journalists injured and incurring losses to their properties in course of covering agitation in various districts of Tarai-Madhes.
The FNJ handed over Rs 102,000 to journalist I Singh Rokaya Magar of Boolbool FM station, who was injured in police firing in Surkhet.
FNJ President Dr Mahendra Bista handed over the money obtained from the International Media Support (IMS) to journalist Rokaya Magar, FNJ Treasurer Suryamani Gautam said in a statement.
" FNJ Mahottari Chapter Secretary, journalist Bikram Prasad Rauniyar, who was injured in a baton charge and incurred damages to his camera in course of the new coverage in Mahottari and journalist Nabin Karna of Makalu Television whose motorbike and camera were damaged in an attack from demonstrators were provided Rs 10,000 each," the statement reads.
Earlier, FNJ had provided Rs 7,000 to journalist Navaraj Khanal working with Kailali FM. Khanal was injured in an attack from demonstrators.
FNJ has stated that it is continuing to collect the records related to injured journalists and journalists sustaining losses to their equipments in course of the agitation in different parts of Tarai-Madhes and that it will provide as much support as possible. RSS
