The students said that they have been unable to submit the exam forms due to the continuous unrest in Parsa and its adjoining districts for over two months now. Many students from outside Parsa, who had gone home to celebrate the festival, have not returned as the transportation service is at halt.
Student leader Dilipraj Karki said if the situation continues a large number of students will miss their exams. The campus has around 350 students enrolled in various Master’s programmes. Some of the student unions, meanwhile, have padlocked the examination section of the campus, demanding time extension for form submission.
The campus administration, however, claimed that the students were given sufficient time to submit their exam forms.
Protesters, police clash in Nepalgunj
NEPALGUNJ: Tension flared up in Nepalgunj after supporters of the agitating Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) clashed with security personnel at Nepalgunj-Rupaidiha border in Banke district on Monday evening.
The clash erupted after police tried to remove the SLMM protesters who were staging a sit-in at no-man’s land as part of their “blockade programme” demanding various amendments in the new constitution.
The SLMM protesters hurled Molotov cocktails and stones from the Indian territory towards the security personnel. At least five officers were hurt in the incident.
