The play, written by Ashes Malla, and produced and directed by Haribahadur Thapa, will be staged at Off-Broadway in New York; which is the first time that a Nepali play is being staged at the venue. “It is a dream-come-true moment for me. I had a desire to stage a play in the world-renowned hub for plays. I am extremely happy to have this opportunity,” said director Thapa. The play is about the recent earthquakes in Nepal.
“The play captures the overall repercussions of the earthquake which happened earlier this year in Nepal. It captures the emotions and consequences brought by the earthquake,” said write Malla.
The play features actors Nadiya Liwang, Sangita Uprety, Deepika Shrestha, Sahadev Poudel, Anuj Thapa, Krish Thapa, and Crystal Thapa, among others.
